Delete your account from within the app
You can permanently delete your Dixl Messenger account directly inside the application:
- Open Dixl Messenger on your Android device.
- Tap your avatar (top-left) to open Settings.
- Go to Account.
- Tap Delete account and confirm with your phone number.
Deletion is immediate and irreversible. You will be signed out on all your devices.
Request deletion by email
If you cannot access the app (for example, you changed phones and lost access to the original number), contact our support team to request deletion manually:
- Email: support@dixl.com
- Subject line: Account deletion request
- Include the phone number associated with the account.
We verify ownership of the phone number before processing the request. Manual requests are processed within 7 business days.
What is deleted
- Your account record (username, profile name, email address if provided).
- Your phone-number mapping (cryptographic hash on the server).
- Encryption key material stored on the server side.
- Undelivered encrypted messages queued for your account.
- Your push-notification token registration.
- Any local data on your device is removed automatically when you uninstall the app.
What is retained
- Nothing user-identifiable. After deletion, our server keeps no personal information tied to you.
- Aggregate, non-identifiable server metrics (request counts, response times) that cannot be linked back to a deleted account.
- Server access logs are retained for a maximum of 90 days for security and fraud-prevention purposes, after which they are automatically purged. Logs contain only IP addresses and request metadata — no message content (all content is end-to-end encrypted and never accessible to the server).
Re-registration
After deletion you may re-register with the same phone number. A new account will be created; it will not have access to previous messages, contacts, or group memberships.
